Our Approach
We conscientiously operate in a sustainable manner
At our Perron project, we are focused on sustainably exploring for gold in a manner that minimizes the impact on the environment, demonstrates operational excellence and respects and contributes to the local community where we operate.
Creating shareholder returns is harmonious with providing benefits to other stakeholders and we are committed to partnering with all our stakeholders.
How are we exploring for gold in a safe and responsible manner?
Where we conduct our exploration activities is an important consideration. |

Quebec is a mining friendly jurisdiction. In addition to its huge mineral potential, it has a long history of mining, and its legislation has been regularly modernized and includes stringent environmental and labour regulations. It is politically and fiscally stable, it has a low tolerance for corruption, a great track record when it comes to human rights, there is plenty of qualified labour, equipment and infrastructure in place, and clean hydro electricity is easily accessible. |
We respect the environment and always aim to minimize our footprint. |
|
In 2021, Amex started planting 274 trees rehabilitating 1.1 ha. We have consistently gone beyond the legal requirements, and we don’t plan on stopping now. In 2022, Amex is planning to plant a minimum of 3,000 trees. Rigorous application of the working methods developed in our Action Plan and compliance with all regulations ensure that the impact of our work on the environment is minimized. |
Community Engagement Normétal |
|
We care about our community; Amex’s employees are from the region. 40% of our employees come from Normétal and its surrounding areas, 71% are from the Abitibi region. Beyond contributing to the local economy- 95% of our purchases are locally sourced from the Abitibi region - we also support local organizations. In 2021, Amex donated to four local organizations. Our aim is to share the benefits of our operations and to leave a lasting, positive legacy. We also seek to keep the community engaged with informational presentations to the City Council of Normétal and Beaucanton, reviewing completed and upcoming work, and maintain open dialogue with the General Director where we discuss work authorizations, purchase of land and site visits. |
First Nations Engagement |
|
We value our relationships with the members of the Abitibiwinni First Nations. We are committed to continue improving and strengthening community relationships through ongoing open dialogue and meaningful engagement. |
The health and safety of our workers and members of the communities where we operate are at the forefront of our decision making. |
|
We work to provide a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and contractors, while protecting land and wildlife. We incorporate safety, environmental, and sustainability considerations into all our business decisions and operational activities. We have the services of two expert medics on site, accessible for our employees and all of our subcontractors. They provide first aid, ensure Covid protocols are in place and followed, and provide information session on Covid and vaccination. |
We recognize that diversity adds to management breadth and broadens our perspective; we have seen it in action. |
|
Currently, 36% of directors and senior officers in the company are women or a visible minority. |
Ethics and fairness in dealing with various stakeholders (suppliers, vendors, subcontractors…) is important. |
|
We strive to advance the Perron project in a manner demonstrating good stewardship of the land, strong relationships with the communities, and operational excellence. We expect our employees and business partners to apply the same duty of care. |
We understand the responsibilities that come from being a public company. |
|
We owe our stakeholders transparency, efficiency, compliance, and integrity. We provide comprehensive disclosure on our website by giving everyone equal access to our geological data. Keeping investors informed about Amex’s activities both in terms of the projects and in terms of governance is a priority for the company. We are transparent and strive to keep our investors up to date with steady news flow. |
We use technology and predictive modelling to the benefit of all stakeholders. |
|
We strive for continuous improvement and are using sophisticated modelling and simulation tools which can greatly reduce inefficiencies by increasing the likelihood that drilling generates results (discovering viable ore deposits). |
